Spring Trends: Ear Curations You Don't Want to Miss

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your style and build a new ear curation. This season, ear curations stand out for their diversity, blending elegance and boldness. Feeling short on inspiration? This article is for you. Get ready to welcome spring in style with our guide to the ear curations you don't want to miss!

Why Choose an Ear Curation This Spring?

A change of season is a sign of renewal, and what better way to celebrate it than by building a new ear curation? Creating your own ear curation lets you make a statement, add a touch of originality to your everyday outfits, and boost your confidence. Small changes can sometimes be just as rewarding as big ones.

Aesthetic Benefits

As mentioned, ear curations offer a great deal of creative freedom: you can play with symmetry, asymmetry, colours and materials. That said, it's important to choose materials that are durable, resist corrosion, and don't trigger allergic reactions like irritation, inflammation or infection.

Spring Occasions

Spring often means renewal, change, sunshine and social events. Every occasion is a chance to show off a part of your personality through your ear jewelry.

Our Ear Curation Ideas

Minimalist and Chic

Here, we suggest an ear curation with three lobe piercings, a tragus and a helix. These piercings are popular and widely worn, because they dress the ear so delicately. Different styles stand out this spring, from bold to minimalist and chic. The zircons in this curation add a touch of elegance. Discover our titanium piercing collection.

Bold and Original

Here's a bold, original piercing curation idea. The conch piercing (Electra piece) is well known, but the type of jewelry used here gives it a bold edge. Integrating more visible, original pieces is a great way to express your personality. The rook piercing also stands out from more familiar piercings (lobe, helix, tragus...) thanks to its shape and placement. It's a bold piercing that lets you personalise your everyday look. If you want a bold, eye-catching curation, we recommend mixing styles, shapes and sizes.

Ear Curation: Earrings

At Obsidian Piercing, we've launched a new range of 316L surgical steel earrings, designed for healed lobes only. You can build your ear curation around these earrings too: there's something for every taste and style, from minimalist to bold. Want to express your personality with earrings that respect your skin? Jewelry Materials and Care

Choosing the right materials for your piercing jewelry is essential, both for the health of your piercings and the longevity of your jewelry.

Choosing the Right Materials: ASTM F-136 Titanium and 14k/18k Gold

Choosing quality materials for your piercing jewelry is a step that can't be overlooked. ASTM F-136 titanium is one of the first materials we recommend, with a long list of benefits: it's hypoallergenic, a real advantage that means reactions like inflammation, irritation or infection are very rare. It's also resistant to corrosion, lightweight, holds up to everyday wear, and is recommended by piercing professionals. You can wear titanium for fresh piercings, healing piercings, or fully healed ones.

If your budget allows, you can also turn to 14k and 18k gold piercing jewelry. 14k and 18k gold are highly prized for piercing jewelry, since they too are hypoallergenic, long-lasting and comfortable to wear.

316L Surgical Steel for Your Lobes

New at Obsidian Piercing: 316L surgical steel. This material is an excellent choice for healed earlobes, valued for its resistance to corrosion, its durability and its biocompatibility. Surgical steel costs slightly more than lower-grade steels like 304 stainless steel, a price difference that reflects the quality of the earrings. Lower-grade steels are often more likely to contain higher nickel levels or other elements that can trigger allergic reactions. It's important to note that surgical steel jewelry is ideal for healed lobes; we recommend sticking with ASTM F-136 titanium or 14k/18k gold jewelry for cartilage piercings.

Care Tips

Keeping your piercing jewelry beautiful and safe takes regular care. Here are a few tips:

  • Clean regularly: clean your jewelry and the pierced area twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, using a sterile gauze pad and saline solution. Avoid harsh products like alcohol-based solutions, disinfectants or Betadine, which can irritate the piercing and damage your jewelry.
  • Dry it properly: after cleaning, gently dry the area with a sterile gauze pad, and avoid leaving moisture on or around the jewelry, which can create a breeding ground for bacteria.
  • Don't fidget with, twist, or pick crusting off the jewelry too early. These actions all slow down healing, and touching your piercing can cause irritation, inflammation or infection, since your hands aren't always clean and can introduce bacteria. That's exactly why washing your hands before cleaning your piercing matters so much.
  • Check regularly: keep an eye on the condition of your jewelry to make sure it's undamaged and that clasps are securely fastened.

ASTM F-136 titanium, 14k and 18k gold, and 316L surgical steel are all easy materials to care for.
